姉妹のジョイとのぞみを紹介します。Meet sisters, Joy and Hope.

私たちの素晴らしいパートナー霜平えみこさん作製のハンドメイドワンちゃんが今日届きました。

2 handmade dogs arrived today from our wonderful partner Emiko Shimohira.

デザインと手編みだけではなくカラーの毛糸のスピニングと染めも彼女一人でしました。

Not only did she create these dogs but she also hand spun and hand dyed the colored sections of the yarn.

遊び方は真ん中で持って振るらしいです。

Apparently you are meant to hold them in the middle and shake them :-)

本当に素敵で編み物を通して感じるジョイ（喜び）とのぞみのシンボルであると思います。

We think they are just adorable and represent the joy and hope that we share in Yarn Alive!

3年前の今日東日本大震災が東北を襲い、多くの方々の尊い命をが失われました。犠牲者を偲ぶとともに被災者の方々の癒しを心からお祈りいたします。
また、ヤーンアライブの活動のために世界中から多くの方々がご支援くださったことに心から感謝いたします。皆様のご厚意がどれほど被災者メンバーを励ましたことでしょう。
先日、一人のメンバーが「2011年3月11日は過去。今日こうしてあることに感謝して、明日に向かいましょう」と言いました。そうです。我々ヤーンアライブはこれから先に希望を持ちワクワクしています。
Today we pause to remember the terrible tragedy that occurred three years ago here in the North East of Japan.  We remember the many thousands who lost their lives and we continue to pray for peace and comfort for those who are still dealing with trauma and loss
Our thoughts also turn to all of the people around the world who have supported us at Yarn Alive with yarn and supplies and monetary gifts,   You have done so much to help bring joy and encouragement to the women in our classes.  You have helped them know that they are not forgotten!    We are so thankful!
As one of the ladies said the other day, "March 11, 2011, is in the past.  We are grateful for today and look forward to the future."   At Yarn Alive we are excited about the future.

３年前この女性達は歴史的な自然災害にあいました。今日彼女達は初めてYarn Alive の新クラスに参加のため集いました！ Nearly 3 years ago, these remarkable women were hit with one of nature's worst disasters. Today they gathered together for the first time for Yarn Alive's new class!

Yarn Alive は３つのクラスに拡大し２倍もの人数に増えました！今日のクラスは２９名で笑い、習い、助け合い、そして励まし合いました。

That's right! Yarn Alive has now increased to 3 classes and nearly doubled in numbers! Today's class of 29 women was full of laughter, learning, helping and encouraging each other.

新しい幕が開かれました！

もう少しで！Nearly there!

フィリピンのためのブランケットが今日も増えました。もう少しで目標の７８枚に到達します！明日のクラスに何が出来るか楽しみです！

More blankets for our Philippine Project came rolling in today! We've nearly hit our target of 78 blankets! Looking forward to seeing what comes in with tomorrow's class!

Fun to be a blessing

昨日は地元の保育園にYarn Alive の膝かけを寄付する事が出来ました！アレルギーの問題もあって、園児７１人の子供達には与えられませんでしたが、２５人のスタッフ全員に配る事が出来ました。新しい設置が寒いとのことでブランケットのプレゼントを喜んでいました。些細なことでも祝福になれればとても嬉しいです。

私たちは未だフィリピンプロジェクトに取り組んでいます。３月から４月の間に７８のブランケットを寄付する予定です。また、他にもYarn Aliveが加われるプロジェクトなどのアイディアがある方はどうぞyarnalive@gmail.comまでメールでお知らせ下さい！

Yesterday we were able to give a local nursery some Yarn Alive lap blankets! Although we could not give the blankets to the 71 children due to potential allergies, we were able to bless the 25 dedicated workers. They were so excited to received the blankets especially as they shared that their new building was very cold. It's always fun to be a blessing even if it is only in a small way!

We are still working hard on our Philippine Project of putting together 78 blankets and sending them in March/April. But if you know of a project that Yarn Alive could contribute to in the future, please email us at yarnalive@gmail.com!
