Cozy up with an afghan

Another one of Mayumisan’s gorgeous blankets.  You can use these as a lap blanket (hizakake), or for your car or on any piece of furniture in your house! They certainly add just that special touch.

Continuing the inspiration

Yarn Alive will start its classes for 2014 on January 21. Until then, we will be uploading pictures that we haven't shown yet from 2013 so that you can continue to be inspired!

Camel

Last year we had a great love for camels. The camel was symbolic as it represented a year to bridge the past and the future and move from recovery to wholeness. So we loved it when we received a package of this Camel Sports yarn! We thought it was worth a picture.

She still had extra Yarn" - Book Review

Last week we posted a picture on Facebook of the "Extra Yarn" book that was given as a present.

Not only is this book a fun read and beautifully illustrated, it shares the story of Yarn Alive! So we thought we would do a short book review on it :-)

It's about a little girl who never runs out of yarn and so she keeps making things for others.

Things began to change in that little town.

And although there was some challenges, happiness prevailed.

2 1/2 years on, Yarn Alive has not run out of yarn and so we keep making things for people in this community and abroad.  We have seen great change in this community and despite some challenges, all are happy.

So you can see why we love this little book! Grab yourself a copy today! Extra Yarn in Japanese ("Anaberu to Fushigi Na Keito") Extra Yarn

Jordan Update

We hope you had a very Merry Christmas!! This is the season of giving so we thought we would take this time to share an update about our latest project in Jordan.
In the summer, we really felt that it was time for a new donation project. It helps keep all of our eyes on the fact that we are very blessed and can and should bless other people.  Miraculously, it did not take long to form a plan and send our goods to the Syrian refugees in Jordan in time for the cold weather!
Our representative who took the items shared with us that it was very moving to be able to tell these families that some ladies who survived the tsunami in Japan wanted them to have something to keep warm in the winter.  They were so happy!  He said that it meant a lot to the children to have one thing that belongs to them.  And it meant so much to know that even people in Japan are thinking of them.  We know that these people really feel that the world has forgotten them, so this project might have helped in a tiny way to help them know that people are thinking of them.
In the grand scheme of things our few little hats and scarves and sweaters, doesn't mean much, but just the act of making something for suffering people has brought great joy and purpose and happiness to these women in Japan.  It has been a great thing.  It was fun to see them look at the pictures and see that the things they made were on the children.  So many people have been blessed all around!
